Weaves

Weaves
Performing on Saturday August 11th at 9:00 pm, presented by Oasis Juices at Main Stage, Community Centre

Weaves' 2016 self-titled album was among the year's most anticipated, and was lauded internationally upon its release for its exuberant approach to guitar pop, described as "one of the most unpredictable sounds of 2016" (MTV), and "a triumphant assault on all things conventional" (i-D). It was a whirlwind year for the band who spent a nearly 12 months on the road, playing festivals across the globe, and touring with their fellow breakout artists Mitski, Sunflower Bean, and Beach Slang. Propelled forward by their own momentum, singer Jasmyn Burke and guitarist Morgan Waters, found themselves possessed by an irrepressible burst of creative energy. The result? Their 2017 sophomore effort, Wide Open. Weaves approached the album as a highwire act - walking the line between intention and their own gleefully anarchic creative impulses. With 2017 and 2018 JUNO nominations for Alternative Album of the Year, and a Polaris short-list nod for their self-titled debut, Weaves possess the sound of a band propelled forward by the thrill of discovering the limits of their sound and gleefully pushing past them.
